Frequently asked questions

How much do you charge??

  •  Hourly Labor Rate:
    – $80/hr for onsite labor & material procurement efforts. Hourly Labor is rounded to the nearest 15 min increment (from site arrival to departure) and is detailed on the invoice.
    – HGL Handyman has a 1 hour minimum labor policy. 
    – Any breaks taken are recorded and subtracted from total labor hours and detailed on the invoice. 
  • Larger Jobs will be quote by the job

Trip Fee:

 For projects requiring onsite work, a Trip Service Charge will be applied, calculated at $40/hour based on the total round-trip travel time from HGL to the jobsite and back, rounded to the nearest 15-minute increment and itemized on the invoice.

  • Example: If travel from the office to the client’s location takes 9 minutes, the round-trip time is 18 minutes, rounded to 15 minutes. The trip fee is 0.25 hours x $40/hour = $10.00.
  • This charge applies for each day onsite services are performed.
  • Initial consultations to discuss project details or provide estimates are exempt from this fee.
  • Time spent on gas stops or material pickups is excluded from the Trip Fee calculation.
  • The fee offsets costs such as transit time, business insurance, and vehicle maintenance.

Bid Pricing / Estimate Requests:

 A Project estimate can be provided when necessary for specific opportunities.  A bid will be sent by email after free consultation to review job specifics in detail. 
– I can provide materials costs and a ballpark labor range estimate.  Noting that ultimately, the customer will be invoiced based on Actual labor and materials required to complete the commissioned scope of work, regardless of estimate figures) Only pay for the exact amount of labor you actually receive.

What type of Payments do you Accept?

 My preferred method of payment is Cash, but I can also accept Electronic Bank Transfers. Within 24 hours of project completion you will receive a detailed invoice via email with a link where you can choose to quickly submit a digital payment

Are you Licensed & Insured?

 Yes, HGL Handyman Services, is licensed to operate in Calgary and Alberta:  License # BL278116

 HGL Handyman Services carries $2,000.000 of general business liability insurance, underwritten by  Special Risk Insurance Managers

Do you offer a Warranty on your work?

 Yes, all HGL Handyman craftsmanship is warrantied for 1 year from the date of invoicing.   This warranty guarantees homeowner protection from faulty workmanship and defective materials due to noncompliance with building standards.
